Our Namesake
Larry Glick has been a steadfast advocate for public education in Garland ISD since 2007. With nearly two decades of board service, he has played a vital role in shaping district policy, promoting student success, and ensuring a safe, supportive learning environment for all.
During his tenure, Mr. Glick has served in every board leadership position, including President, Vice President, Secretary, and Assistant Secretary. He is known for his deep commitment to safety, having served on the GISD School Safety and Security Committee since its inception. His leadership has helped guide the district through years of growth, innovation, and achievement.

A strong supporter of student programs, Mr. Glick has championed initiatives that benefit both academic and extracurricular activities. He has worked to enhance opportunities for all students, from expanding advanced academic pathways to supporting student-athletes through efforts like sponsoring letterman jackets and medical exams for Special Olympics participants. Through his efforts, the GISD Planetarium was reopened and modernized, now serving 12,000 GISD students per year.
Mr. Glick’s professional background in tax consulting, finance, and law has provided valuable expertise to the board. He brings a thoughtful, strategic approach to every decision, always keeping the best interests of students, staff, and families at the forefront.
His impact extends beyond meetings and policy. Mr. Glick is a familiar face at campuses and events, always ready to celebrate student achievements and connect with the communities he serves.
In recognition of his service, he has been honored with the TASB Master Trustee designation and other awards that reflect his deep dedication to education.
